“People leave bosses not jobs”, common wisdom right?…
I wonder why some leaders keep ignoring repetitive warning signs though… I personally think that people quit bosses but they also quit because they lost hope in their leadership; blind to see patterns about how their people behave, act or communicate …Leadership team who consciously maintain “performance-first and team-last” mentality!
Let’s be honest; some managers get promoted for the wrong reasons- 100% performance and 0 people skills. They simply manage people because there is no other way to get a rise. They become excellent at « managing up ».
They quickly master skills to impress their superiors and depress their teams…
Best people start fleeing the job at a very high rate but NO worries!
New talents are around the corner… New team is quickly hired and the dysfunction remains hidden as long as the job is well done!
Who cares about the famous talent retention or how people are treated?
“Talent hunt” becomes the favourite team sport!
To all great leaders out there,
Please seek out the truth from your people; even if it is difficult or unpleasant to deal with…
Even when your people keep silent for different reasons …
Sometimes “Silence is so loud”
It takes a truly great leader to hire a good leader ; And great leaders make their people their first priority!
