“Think out of the box”.
Can someone tell me what exactly this box is? What shape, what colour…and who created this box in the first place?
Hold on a second- let’s think outside, inside and beyond this box…
Isn’t it amazing how corporations spend their financial capital to meticulously mould their human capital to fit into a pre-packaged box!
There is absolutely nothing wrong in shaping the future of work but don’t we end up shaping talents to think the same way, talk the same way, use the same acronyms (adding fuel to the confusion) and lead the same way…???
This is what I call the “Corporate Tetris Syndrome”!
As we play ; the more Tetris effect we experience.. .As we spend more time and years playing the game; we have the privilege to be coached and mentored by the “best” Tetris players…If we level up fast and unlock all stages (don’t forget the hidden or secret ones), we learn how to think outside an “improved box”!
Got it! Sociology says that if we all use the same language in a community, it helps build identity and a sense of belonging.
Fair enough! sense of belonging is crucial (after all we are social animals)…but being best creatures of habit, we quickly master the game inside this box and we become utterly addicted to Tetriminos…
How are we supposed to “think differently”?
Truth is, if we want people to think unconventionally, shift perspectives and question the status quo; we need to break the rules …break everyday boxes!
