“One dirty fish CANNOT spoil the whole pond”

Have you heard stories of bad female bosses?

Have you worked for a female boss who exhibited toxic traits?

Have you experienced a culture where women oppose the rise of other women?

Have you heard about the Queen Bee syndrome or the Alpha-female?

If the answer is YES; than your boss is just one person and shouldn’t represent all women!

I believe that a bad leader is a bad leader regardless of gender!

I personally have had wonderful experiences with female leaders…they are more empathetic, more inclusive and more likely to thrive in the face of adversity…

And I’ve also had enriching experiences with “interesting” female bosses…using shame & blame to manage others, bullying, passive-aggressive behaviour, favouritism…you name it!

Full confession, after two back-to-back encounters with bad leaders, there was a part of me which was a little bit scared to work with another woman boss. It is in fact very easy to get caught up in thinking that all women bosses are the same!…Ironically enough, these female leaders are empowered, rewarded and thrive in performance driven cultures and make it hard for other women to survive under their leadership…Moreover male leaders find it hard to speak up against a female toxic leadership (even when there is no team left! 😳)…

I do feel really sad to see that some women are still the bane of other women in the workplace but I am deeply convinced that women are great leaders…We just need to stop seeing one another as threats and be aware of our shared identity!

If you are working for a toxic female leader and your leadership is not doing anything to detox the team-if you don’t feel safe speaking up-  it’s time to cut ties!

To all big hearted women leaders,

You are Real Change Makers , you are Unstoppable!

XoXo,

Hindy
