No Problem is a Problem….

Updated: Apr 3, 2023

This week I had the chance to chat with a great mind and certainly an outstanding female leader.

When I asked her “what's your favourite part of your job”? She simply replied “ I love to sit with my team and solve problems”-Heba Elmahdy

“Come to me with problems, not solutions”..

I love it!

How many times you heard leaders say “don’t come to me with problems, come with solutions”?

I’ve always been a problem solver. Life is about problem solving!. I love to fry my brains to find solutions. The bigger the challenge, the bigger the heat, the bigger the sense of accomplishment....

I always worked hard to present not just one but 2 or 3 solutions, a backup plan and an executive summary to explain the logic and recommend the best way forward…

After I experienced both sides (problem Vs. solution mindset); I totally refused to subscribe to "come with solution" mentality and here is why...

I believe....some leaders become lazy. They simply ask their managers to forward the solutions to the stkohokders without adding any value… They act like inefficient “middlemen” connecting managers with top management...I call them ‘broker leaders’...

Some of them put stress on people to find the right solution without any directions..I call them leaders without “L” (leaders without leading)....

Some of them fail to understand the meaning of “empowering” and they become masters of intimidation…if their “empowered” managers fail to find a solution; they are not good enough…I call them “tyrant leaders”...

Of course we need to encourage and nurture a solution- driven mindset but we need to show our team that finding solutions is a group effort.

Collaboration is the best way to find the best solutions…

Genuine empowerment requires leaders to be involved ...

Modern leaders grow with their team...Always Unstoppable!

XoXo,

Hindy
