Working for an insecure Manager?
Try "Empathy overdose"....
Insecure Managers need loads of reassurance and support...
There is a lot to learn from parents supporting insecure kids…
The first thing they do to build their confidence for life is to validate their feelings....by avoiding harsh criticism and praising their efforts wisely…
Otherwise, don't be surprised if you trigger their massive passive-aggressive behaviour…
One reason why insecure bosses may become passive-aggressive is that they lack the communication skills or confidence to express themselves directly. Instead of addressing the issue head-on, they may resort to indirect or subtle forms of communication, such as sarcasm or backhanded compliments.
For some Managers, this passive-aggressive behavior can provide a sense of control or power….By withholding information, giving the silent treatment, they want to manipulate the situation and exert their authority over others.
They become overly micromanaging, as they feel the need to maintain a sense of control and certainty over their environment.
Just try to understand their perspective and motivations. Set the tone & boundaries…
And always remember that this is not a reflection of your skills or abilities.
You are already doing more than enough…dealing with an insecure Manager can be very stressful, so it's important to prioritise your own well-being.
Always Unstoppable,
XoXo
