Congratulations…Your Boss Likes You!

I came across this post in LinkedIn and it reminded me what Dr. Laurence J. Peter said:

“People in a hierarchy rise to their level of incompetence.”


We still assume that employees will do well based on their previous roles. The famous concept of “success leads to promotion”…


But how do we define success?

…And how some senior leaders behave when they realise that they hired the wrong “talent” to lead the team?


Well… sometimes they simply choose to do nothing…

For their “True success”…


Unfortunately personal preferences and social politics still remain a big factor in who gets promoted.


Interestingly enough…When they witness human incompetence, they just freeze and watch their team fall apart..


They are truly good leaders…

But suddenly nothing works anymore within the team!

Obviously they are smart enough to conclude that it is not going to end well for the the team…They know the sad reality of totally ignoring the attitude problems in their hiring process…


As I watched a team of amazing multicultural talents collectively collapse, I couldn’t help but wonder how leaders like this are even promoted in the first place?


Why do toxic people get promoted to leadership positions?


When you see it clearly happening, you wake up to two big realities…


1.Likeability in the work culture can be devastating!


The hiring leader will do what it takes to save the corporate face and move up in the company…


And then the 2nd reality comes into play…


2.They all fit the same mold!


The bigger reality is…

…Is this mold a good fit for you?


Time to cut the strings and move on!
